Senator Vin Gopal joined countless community leaders and educators this week in recognizing Special Education Week.
“This is a time to celebrate all of the accomplishments of New Jersey’s special education students as well as the commitment of the parents and teachers who support them,” said Senator Vin Gopal.
The number of students enrolled in special education programs in New Jersey has grown continuously, raising 30 percent in the last decade alone. Sen. Gopal is committed to ensuring these programs receive proper state funding in order to properly support special education students and their teachers.
“New Jersey has the largest percentage of students receiving special education services,” Sen. Gopal said. “All students deserve properly funded educational programs and access to the resources they need to learn, grow and thrive in our public schools. As I continue to fight to ensure Monmouth County’s public schools receive their fair share of State funding, I will make sure our special education programs are also being properly funded.”
Special Education Week is held from May 13 through May 19 and is sponsored by the New Jersey School Boards Association.
